Capers, used most commonly as a flavoring in foods, are known in medicinal circles for treating diabetes, fungal infections, chest congestion, and skin diseases when applied topically. The caper is native to the Mediterranean, East Africa, Madagascar, southwestern and Central Asia, Himalayas, the Pacific Islands, Indomalaya, and Australia.
