While high in fat, sugar, and calories, chocolate has also been shown to reduce risk factors for heart disease, since the flavanols in cocoa beans have antioxidant effects that reduce the cell damage related to heart disease (dark chocolate boasts the highest cocoa content, therefore making it the best choice). In foods, it's used as a flavoring agent.
