Native to South Asia, rye is the edible grain of a cereal grass typically used as livestock feed, in rye whiskey and to make rye bread. Rye is high in carbohydrates, manganese and fiber. It helps prevent gallstones, lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes and fights cardiovascular disease.
